The struggle of finding a decent payphone these days
Honestly, my phone died last week right outside the library downtown. Tried to find a payphone to call my ride, but the one on the corner was just a metal shell. Ended up walking three blocks to a gas station and the guy at the counter let me use his landline for a minute. Tbh it made me miss when you could just drop a quarter and make a call from anywhere. Has anyone else had to deal with this recently?

Yeah, that "metal shell" thing is the worst. I keep a cheap prepaid flip phone in my glove box for emergencies now.

That "cheap prepaid flip phone in the glove box" idea is so smart. I used to just rely on my smartphone for everything, but my battery died during a long traffic jam last winter. Having a backup that just works for calls is a total game changer.

My old Nokia lasted three days on a single charge and I thought that was dumb tech. Now I get why people keep a basic phone around.
