Old timer named Hank set me straight on hoof angles last month
Been shoeing for about 6 years and thought I had my front feet angles dialed. Hank watched me forge a shoe and said 'son, you're trimming for what you want, not what the horse needs.' That one comment made me slow down and actually look at the live horse's conformation before hammering anything. Now I'm getting fewer quarter cracks and my horses are staying sounder longer. Anyone else had some old timer call them out on a bad habit?

Hank hit you with some real talk there. That kind of straight advice is hard to hear but it sticks with you for good reason. I had a guy named Pete call me out on my hind shoe placement years ago and it made me totally rethink my approach. It's humbling to have someone point out something you've been doing wrong, but it usually leads to way better work.

Yeah that Pete sounds like he knows his stuff, @viola_butler I had a similar wake-up call with my own rigging last year.
