PSA: Found out horse hooves grow way faster in wet weather
I was looking up some old farrier records from last spring and noticed I was seeing the same horses every 4 weeks instead of 6. Turns out there's a study from Cornell that says hooves can grow up to 1/4 inch more per month when it's rainy. Has anyone else noticed their schedule changing with the seasons?

Yeah my buddy runs a small barn downstate and he was complaining about the same thing. Said he had to bump his farrier visits up to every 5 weeks during a super wet stretch last year because the growth was just out of control. He switched to a summer/winter schedule now, does 4 weeks in the mud and 6 when it's dry, seems to work pretty well for him.

Did he see any hoof quality difference between the two schedules?
