Rasping on the cheap nearly cost me a good client

I swore by those $30 rasps from the farm supply store for years until I tried a Nicholson #49 and finished a hoof in half the time. The difference was night and day on a tricky horse last week. Anyone else find that spending a little more on tools actually saves you money in the long run?

Oh man, I feel this HARD. I lost a whole afternoon once trying to shape a hoof with a worn out cheap rasp and had to rebook the client because I couldn't get the balance right. A good tool really does pay for itself when it saves you that kind of headache.

Yeah, #100 grit from a cheap hardware store rasp is basically a torture device. I switched to a Dahlman and it was night and day. That thing cuts clean and fast, no fight at all. I was done in half the time and the hoof looked way better because I wasn't wrestling the tool. Saved me from having to redo a whole foot once, and that was enough for me to never look back. It's just a better way to spend your money if you do this every day.
