Realized I wasted $90 on a 'universal' hoof knife that just doesn't hold an edge
Bought it online last month thinking it would save me time on my rounds near Springfield, but the steel is way too soft and I'm already having to sharpen it after every other horse. What's a brand you actually trust for a good, lasting edge?

My buddy Mark out in Columbia bought a similar knife last spring, said it went dull halfway through his first trim on a draft horse. He ended up getting a refund after sending three angry emails. Have you looked at the basic models from Mustad? They're not cheap, but Mark's had his for two years now and only touches it up on a stone every few months. Makes you wonder why they even sell those soft steel tools to people who actually need to use them.

Yeah, soft steel is the worst for real work. I keep a cheap diamond stone in my kit for quick touch-ups on jobs like that, saves the good edge for longer.
