Shoutout to that old timer at the Kentucky farrier clinic last spring

I was at the Bluegrass Farrier Association clinic in Lexington back in May. An older guy named Hank watched me struggle with a tricky hind foot on a draft cross. He pulled me aside and showed me how to brace my leg against the horse's thigh instead of fighting it. I tried it on the next horse and my back didn't ache for the first time in months. Any of you folks ever get a tip from an old timer that just clicked?

Did you get his name by any chance? I met a Hank at a clinic in Ohio once, sounds like the same guy. He told me to stop yanking on the hoof and just let the horse relax into it, works like a charm every time.

Wait, did you say Ohio Hank? The same one who's all about that "relax into it" thing... yeah, I used to think you had to really muscle through hoof work to get anywhere. But once I tried his way, just letting the horse settle in, it totally changed how I see it.
