Spent a whole afternoon at a clinic in Kentucky watching a master farrier deal with a foundered pony and it made me reconsider how I trim toes

I went to this clinic over in Lexington back in March. Guy had a shetland that was way overdue and the founder lines were brutal. The way he approached the trim was totally different from what I was taught. He barely touched the heel and focused all his work on the toe. Said most of us take off too much heel too early. Tried it on a couple of my problem horses since then and they're moving way better. Has anyone else switched up their toe-heel balance approach after seeing a demo?

Did you notice if he was bringing the toe back from the bottom or working more from the dorsal wall? I started doing the same thing after a clinic in Ohio and found it really helped a navicular horse I had been struggling with for months.

Friend tried it and said it was a game changer.
