That clinic in Kentucky made me rethink my whole forge setup
I went to a hoof care symposium in Lexington back in 2019, and this old timer showed me how he uses a coal forge with a specific brand of fire brick. He said his shoes last 20% longer because the heat is more even. I switched right after that weekend and honestly my work has been cleaner ever since. Anyone else have a moment like that where a demo changed your routine?

The "shoes last 20% longer" bit is what got me. That's a huge claim for just swapping bricks. Did he actually track it, like with a stopwatch on wear patterns, or was he just going by feel? I've seen so many guys swear by gear that actually makes zero difference once you test it. What brand of brick was it, if you remember? I want to look up if there's any real data on that.

idk, I'm the kind of person who would probably just trust feel and then buy new shoes anyway. I've got a buddy who swears by some special running socks that "add 10% to your stride" or whatever, and I'm pretty sure it's all in his head. No idea on the brick brand, sorry. Maybe it was just a weird way of saying he swapped his old worn down bricks for new ones? Haha.
