TIL a veteran farrier in Boise told me my clinch block was too small for the nails I was using.

Switched to a 3/4 inch block and my clinches are way more consistent now. Anyone else find a simple tool change made a big difference?

Yeah, that's one of those things you don't realize is off until you get the right size. Makes you wonder what other little tool tweaks are out there waiting to be found.

Oh man, that's so true. It's like when you finally use a screwdriver that actually fits the screw head perfectly. You don't realize how much you were stripping things until you feel that smooth turn. Same goes for a sharp knife versus a dull one. The right tool just disappears in your hand and lets you focus on the work.

My grandpa's old wood chisels taught me that. A perfectly sharp edge doesn't cut the wood, it parts the fibers. Changes the whole feel.
