Warning: I switched from a standard rasp to a diamond-coated one for a tricky quarter crack

The old file just wasn't cutting it on this mare's hoof, so I grabbed my DMT rasp. It took down the high spot in half the time without clogging. Has anyone found a better tool for cleaning up those ragged edges?

My old farrier always said a regular rasp works fine if you know how to use it right.

Fair enough, I get that some people swear by the old ways. But here's the thing - a regular rasp just can't get into the tight spots near the heel or around the toe like a four-way can. I've seen guys try to fudge it with a regular one and end up leaving rough patches that cause cracking later. A good farrier can make anything work, but I'd rather grab a tool that does the job in half the time without fighting it. It's not about skill, it's about having the right edge for the angle you're working.
