Getting the drape right on a silk bias-cut skirt took me three full weekends of unpicking and re-pinning.

I just couldn't get the side seams to hang straight without pulling across the hips, and my usual method of adding a tiny bit of ease just made it bunch, so has anyone found a good trick for this specific fabric and cut?

Honestly thought more ease was the answer until a tailor friend watched me struggle. She had me baste the side seams with the skirt hanging up overnight before the final stitch, which lets the bias settle naturally. That one weird trick finally got the drape to fall straight without any pulling.

Man that's such a GOOD tip. Letting the fabric hang on the bias is key, it stretches out just enough before you lock it in. I fought with a linen skirt for weeks, kept getting those weird diagonal pulls. Did the same hang test and it was like magic, the grain just settled right. Your tailor friend knows her stuff for sure.
