How washable markers fixed my measurement struggles for sewing
I always messed up my measurements when designing clothes alone! The tape would slip, and my pieces came out wonky. I started using washable fabric markers to draw lines where I need to measure. For example, I mark the bust and waist points on my dress form first. Then I place the tape over those lines, which keeps it straight and steady. Now my custom fits are accurate, and I waste less fabric on fixes! This trick made solo design work so much easier for me.

Love this fix for sewing measurements. It shows how often the best solutions are just simple adaptations of everyday items. I see this all the time in home projects where people overcomplicate things with fancy tools. A marker line is a clever way to add a guide that makes the tape behave. This kind of thinking saves time and money across so many tasks.

Exactly, it's funny how we skip over simple fixes... like using a bread clip to organize cords instead of buying cable ties. My dad always used a butter knife as a screwdriver in a pinch, and it worked just fine for years. That marker line trick is the same kind of smart, low-cost thinking. We get so used to specialized tools that we forget how adaptable ordinary stuff can be.
