My professor insisted I ditch the zippers on my asymmetrical jacket design, and the final piece was way more fluid.
I ignored his advice for a week, but after seeing the bulky sample, I replaced them with hidden magnetic closures and the silhouette improved dramatically, so has anyone else been stubborn about a design element that a mentor was right about?

Mentors spot the bulky stuff early, trust it.

Yeah but that's only half of it, @rodriguez.skyler. A good mentor spots the big problems, sure, but the real skill is knowing what to point out right away and what to let you figure out on your own. If they correct every little thing early on, you never learn to trust your own gut. Sometimes the bulky stuff is obvious to them because they've been there, but you need to hit that wall yourself to really get it. It's about balance, you know?
