My soggy socks in Scotland led to a boot concept.
Footwear should never fear a puddle again.

Watched my buddy's hiking boots totally fail on a camping trip last fall. He stepped in what looked like a shallow stream and water just poured over the top. Had to hike for hours with that cold, squelchy feeling. He said it was the most miserable part of the whole weekend, even worse than the rain. Really makes you get why someone would dream up a whole new kind of boot. He'd buy a pair in a second if they actually kept the water out.

Your buddy's story makes me cringe. Did those boots have any waterproof rating, or were they just beat up from use? I've seen seams fail after a few seasons, but water pouring over the top sounds like a design flaw. He must have been dreaming of dry socks the whole hike.

Saw my friend test his new "waterproof" boots in a city park puddle. Water shot straight through the stitch line near his toes like a tiny fountain. He spent the rest of our walk with that sad, sloshing sound following every step, his socks completely soaked.
