Still trying to figure out how to make a denim jacket look good with patches that aren't just band logos

Have you tried looking for patches from local businesses or places you've actually been to? I slapped a patch from a diner I used to work at on my jacket and it gets more compliments than any band patch I've ever owned. Your mileage may vary but that personal connection made all the difference for me.

2 years ago I put a vintage gas station patch on an old denim jacket I got at Goodwill and it totally changed how I looked at the whole thing. Its weird because people just think of band patches or political stuff but its kind of the same thing with how folks decorate their cars or their fridges at home. We all have this instinct to mark things that are ours with stuff that means something to us personally. Like my neighbor has a tool chest at my work covered in stickers from every job site hes ever been on. I think the trick with patches is to find ones that tell a story about where youve been or what you like even if its just a weird food brand or a local diner thats been around forever.
