Appreciation post: I hit 50 different fast food chicken sandwiches this year and the worst one was from a place I had high hopes for.

After trying the new 'spicy deluxe' from that chain that opened on Maple Avenue, I realized my quest has taught me that a fancy name and high price, like $9.49, often means a dry, disappointing patty on a soggy bun.

That line about a fancy name and high price being a warning sign is so true. It's like they spend all the money on marketing the "deluxe" part and forget to make the chicken not taste like cardboard. My biggest letdown was a "signature" sandwich that cost almost eleven bucks and was smaller than my hand. After fifty tries, you really just want a place that gets the simple stuff right, a juicy piece of chicken on a decent bun.

Totally feel that. It reminds me of this local burger spot that got super popular online. They started calling everything "artisanal" and doubled their prices, but the fries went from crispy and salty to these sad, limp things. The fancy new menu just made the basic cheeseburger worse somehow. Now I drive an extra ten minutes to this old diner that doesn't even have a website, just perfect, simple burgers every single time.
