Cooking frozen fries in the air fryer with a spritz of oil changes everything
Been eating dry, powdery fries for months until I tried spraying them with a little canola oil before cooking. Did a batch at 400 for 12 minutes and they actually got crispy on the outside, soft inside. Anybody else got a trick for frozen fast food at home?

Feel you so much on this one. I was doing the exact same thing for way too long just throwing frozen fries in dry and wondering why they turned out so sad. The oil spray trick is a total lifesaver, I tried it with olive oil spray last week and finally got that crunch I was missing. I also started preheating the air fryer for a few minutes before adding the fries and that gave them an even better texture honestly. For frozen onion rings I do the same spray and they come out way less soggy than the microwave or oven ever made them. Its wild how just a tiny bit of oil makes frozen food actually taste like something you'd want to eat.

oh man, you just changed my whole fry game. i used to just dump them in dry and wonder why they tasted like cardboard. now i do the same thing with a little avocado oil spray and it's like night and day. i also started shaking them halfway through and that helps too. another thing i do with frozen chicken strips from the store is spray 'em with oil and they come out way better than the oven, not greasy at all. it's such a simple little step but it really does make everything taste less like a sad freezer meal.

Ha, I gotta disagree with you guys honestly. I tried the oil spray thing and it just made my fries greasy and heavy, not crispy. I think the trick with frozen fries is to not add any extra oil at all, they already got enough fat from the processing. What worked for me was going lower and slower, like 350 for 15-18 minutes with a good shake halfway. They come out dryer but actually crunchy without that oily film on your fingers. Different strokes I guess, but I'll take my dry sad fries over the slick ones any day.
