Had a chat with a Wendy's shift manager that flipped my burger ranking
Stopped at a Wendy's outside Nashville last Tuesday. Dead afternoon. Manager came out to grab trash. We got talking. He told me they chop their lettuce fresh every 4 hours. Not bagged stuff. That hit different because I always thought their burgers were just average. Now I gotta redo my whole fast food burger list. Anyone else ever have a worker change your mind on a place?

Honestly it's wild how much small stuff like that changes the whole experience. I had a similar thing at a local McDonald's where the grill guy told me they hold their patties way past the time limit if they're busy and that's why sometimes you get that dry hockey puck feeling. Now I always ask for fresh meat and watch them pull from the back. For Wendy's though try asking for a double with no salt on the patty. Makes them have to drop a fresh one and you get that hot off the grill taste plus the lettuce situation you mentioned. That manager probably cares way more than corporate wants them to.

Oh man, that no salt trick is clever! A buddy of mine told me he tried that at a Wendy's near his work and the cashier actually rolled her eyes at him but he got the freshest burger he'd had in months. Maybe it's just me but @palmer.jana you're probably right that the manager is the one making it work.

My wife read an article last year that said Wendy's was one of the only chains still chopping produce in-store instead of using precut bags. It makes you wonder what corners other places are cutting.
