I spent $12 on a new spicy chicken sandwich that was basically just a bun and sauce

Tried the 'Volcano Blast' chicken sandwich from Burger Palace yesterday, and for that price I expected a decent piece of chicken, not a tiny patty drowning in a cup of generic hot sauce. The whole thing was a soggy mess that fell apart after two bites. Are these overpriced, gimmicky menu items becoming the norm, or did I just pick a bad location?

Ugh, that's the worst! It's totally the norm now. They slap a fancy name on something basic, charge a premium, and the "special" part is just a ton of cheap sauce to hide the tiny portion. I got a "Dragon Fire" burger last week that was the same deal, just a sad, thin beef patty swimming in oily sriracha mayo. Feels like they're all just betting on the trend name to sell it.

My "Volcano Burrito" was just rice and three beans last Tuesday.

Totally agree with you and @rubys29, it's all marketing now. They just rename basic stuff to make it sound new and exciting. Honestly makes me miss when menus just said what things actually were.
