The week my local Burger King ran out of Whopper buns

This was back in 2012, I think. For a whole week, they were serving Whoppers on these weird, floppy sesame seed buns from the grocery store. It completely changed the taste and texture, and the whole place just felt off. I remember the manager looked so tired when he explained it. Has anyone else had a fast food staple totally ruined by one missing ingredient?

That manager looking tired says it all... the whole system falls apart without that one specific part. It's weird how a cheap bun can make a place feel like a sad copy of itself.

Remember it's usually the lettuce that goes first.

the whole system falls apart without that one specific part" yeah that's exactly it. Reminds me of the time Taco Bell ran out of their mild sauce packets around here for like two weeks. Suddenly every burrito felt dry and sad, even though technically nothing else changed. People were literally asking the cashier if they could just buy a bottle of it. It's funny how something so small can make a place feel broken, like a car running on three cylinders.
