A cedar post in my own backyard split clean through after a single hard freeze this winter.

I had to pull it out and reset it with a proper gravel base and a concrete collar, which got me thinking, what's your go-to method for setting posts in areas with extreme freeze-thaw cycles?

Ugh, that's the worst... I've started using those foam post wraps too, they seem to help a lot with the heaving.

Tbh I'm just waiting for the day my fence gives up and walks away on its own. Those foam wraps are like little life jackets for posts, but man does it feel silly to baby a piece of wood in the ground.
