Fencing a property near the ocean flipped my view on pressure treated wood
I used to stick with standard pressure treated pine for all my jobs, thinking it was plenty good. Then I got a call to help with a big fence line right on the coast last fall. The salt air there eats through regular treated wood way faster than I expected. The local guy I was working with only used a specific marine-grade treatment, something I thought was just for docks. We drove past some of his old jobs from five years back, and they looked almost new. That convinced me to pay the extra for the better stuff in salty or damp areas. Back in my usual inland spots, I still use the regular kind, but now I always ask about the location first. In my experience, it saves headaches down the road, but your mileage may vary.

Actually it's freshwater guys who swear by it.
