Had a T-post pull right out of the ground last week
I was running a 4-strand barbed wire fence on a sloped pasture near Springfield, using the same T-posts I always buy. Second day in, I hit one with the tractor tire and it just... came out. Root and all. The ground was wet from rain the night before, but still. I figured out I hadn't driven them deep enough on the slope - only about 18 inches instead of 24. Now I'm wondering if I should redo the whole line or just pound them deeper and hope. Anyone ever had a whole section fail like that?

Actually T-posts don't have roots, that was probably a different type of fence post you pulled out.

Explain what you mean by roots then. I've pulled plenty of T-posts that had thick, woody roots grown right around the metal flanges. Are you saying those roots belonged to a nearby plant and just grew around the post? That seems like a small difference if the post is still anchored solidly by them.
