Old timer at the supply house told me to pre-drill all my post holes
He said it saves time in the long run. Took me two extra hours on my first solo job outside of Austin, but that fence hasn't budged in four years. Anybody else swear by this or am I overthinking it?

...and the thing is, my buddy Kevin tried cutting corners on a fence job near San Antonio. He was all "I've been doing this twenty years, I don't need to pre-drill." Spent a whole weekend on it, looked good for like a year. Then we had that real wet spring and half the posts started leaning like dominoes. He ended up having to pull every single one and redo them with pre-drilled holes. Said it took him way longer than if he'd just done it right the first time. So yeah, I'm with you on this one. That extra couple hours upfront beats the hell out of a full redo later.

Wait, he's done this for twenty years and never learned about pre-drilling? That's wild lol
