Thinner pickets might save money but they can't handle a strong gust

I had to replace three panels last month after a windy day tore them right off the rails.

Yeah some people just slap stuff together and call it a day. Saw one where they used toothpaste to fill the gaps, I'm not even kidding. Guess some folks have lower standards for "held up fine".

Honest question, does it actually matter if someone's DIY job looks janky? If it works for them, who cares.
