TIL I've set exactly 5,000 posts in my career after adding up my old job logs.

That number hit me because it's a full mile of 4-foot sections. Anyone else ever track their total like that?

Remember reading about how bricklayers used to count bricks by the mile. Makes me wonder if we're all just building invisible walls of data now. Kinda wild to picture your 5000 posts laid out as a real physical mile of fence. Maybe it's just me but that feels more real than any number on a screen.

My grandpa was a bricklayer for 40 years in Chicago and he always said counting by the mile was more about keeping your mind busy than actually measuring anything. I see it a bit different though. To me those 5000 posts are more like a scattered pile of stones than a fence. Nobody builds a straight wall out of random thoughts and half remembered arguments. The real fences we build are the ones we put up between people we don't agree with, not the stuff we post. Your posts are just noise in a field, not a structure that keeps anything in or out.

A mile of fence posts is a funny way to picture it, like we're all just digital ranchers. Guess my corner of the internet is fenced in with bad takes and cat memes. At least a real fence keeps something out, ours just traps more hot air lol.
