A customer from my old shop taught me a lesson about kraut I still use
He came in years ago for a new furnace filter, saw my jars on the counter, and said 'You're burping those? Just get an airlock, it's one less thing to worry about.' I switched to airlocks that week and haven't looked back. Anyone have a favorite brand for wide-mouth lids with the hole already punched?

Wait, what if that airlock trick actually makes things worse sometimes? I tried it and ended up with way too much pressure build-up. It ruined a whole batch of my last brew because the seal was too tight. Maybe it only works with certain types of fermenters?
