My neighbor told me to stop burping my sauerkraut jars every day

He said to just leave them alone for the whole two week ferment. I tried it on my last batch of red cabbage and after three days the lids were bulging so bad I thought they'd blow. I had to burp them anyway. Turns out his house is way colder than mine, around 60 degrees, so his ferments are slow. My kitchen sits at 72. Now I check the pressure every other day. How often do you all burp your jars when it's warm?

My last batch at 75 degrees needed burping twice a day. The rule is to check the jar, not the calendar, because every setup is different. Your neighbor's cold kitchen just gives him a totally different timeline.
