A contractor in Boise told me 'you don't need an inspection on a new build' last month.

I almost skipped it, but my realtor insisted, and the inspector found a major plumbing vent issue that would have cost me over $5,000 to fix after closing.

Wow, that's insane! Good thing you listened to your realtor. It's crazy a contractor would even say that. Reminds me of what @finley_craig53 said about the fire hazard. Our inspector found a cracked heat exchanger in a brand new furnace once. The whole unit had to be replaced before we even moved in. You just never know what got missed. Always, always get the inspection.

Our inspector found faulty wiring that could have started a fire, so yeah, always get one.

Glad your realtor pushed for that. Our inspector caught a missing flashing that would've led to a massive leak.
