My offer got accepted on a house in Akron last Tuesday, then the inspection report came back.
The inspector found a crack in the foundation wall. Quote was $8500 to fix. Seller won't cover it. My agent says we can walk away or try to renegotiate. I was so excited, now I'm just stressed. Has anyone had a seller come down on price for a major repair like this?

Honestly, that's a tough spot. I get why clark.kelly's friend had a seller split it, but I see things differently. Tbh, a foundation crack is a huge red flag and the seller not covering any of it feels off. I'd be worried about what else they're hiding if they won't budge on something this big. I'd probably walk unless they come down a lot more than just that repair cost.

A friend got a seller to split the cost of a similar foundation fix last year.

Is it really that serious though? A crack doesn't automatically mean the whole house is falling down. Sometimes it's just a slab settling or a cosmetic thing that can be patched up for a couple hundred bucks. Did your friend even get a structural engineer to look at it, or are they just going off what the inspector said?
