Just found a way to get a perfect seam on that tricky sheet vinyl
Had a job last week in a Phoenix kitchen with a big tear in the old sheet vinyl. The pattern was a pain to match and the usual heat weld just wasn't looking right. I remembered a trick from a guy I met at a supply house, so I tried using a tiny bit of clear silicone adhesive on the edges before pressing them together. Let it set for about 20 minutes, then went over it with the heat gun. The seam is almost invisible now and I'm really happy with it. Has anyone else used something besides the standard seam sealer for a better finish on those old patterns?

Man, I feel you on that. Those old patterns are a nightmare to line up perfectly. I had one last month with a tiny floral print that was just impossible. The standard seam sealer left a dark line right through a petal and it drove me crazy. Getting that invisible finish is such a win.

Oh nice, that's a clever fix. I mean, I've used a bit of super glue in a pinch on a tear, but that was just to hold it before the real sealer.
