Paper template hack for fireplace vinyl cuts
Last week, I had to fit vinyl planks around a tricky fireplace. I tried a paper template first, and it gave me a perfect cut right away. Do you all make templates for hard spots?

How good are paper templates, right? I used the same trick last month on a wall with a bunch of weird angles, not a fireplace, but the idea is the same. Cutting that paper first lets you see the exact shape you need without wasting a single plank. I just trace the wall onto some craft paper, cut it out, and then use that as a perfect pattern on the vinyl. It takes a few extra minutes but saves so much headache and messed up material. That method is a lifesaver for any cut that isn't a simple straight line.

Totally feel that about it saving a headache. I've noticed it's the same with a lot of stuff, like testing a small patch of paint color before doing the whole wall or even reading a recipe all the way through before you start cooking. That extra bit of planning upfront always seems to stop a bigger mess later. It's like a tiny time investment that pays off huge by avoiding the thing you have to redo.
