Finally got a handle on that tricky wedding arch for the Johnson job

I spent almost 4 hours trying to get a stable, full base on a free-standing arch for a wedding at the Maple Grove barn. The wind kept knocking my test pieces over, and I was about to give up and just use the built-in arbor. Ended up using a heavy concrete block base wrapped in chicken wire and moss, and it held PERFECT all day. Anyone have a better method for outdoor setups that won't tip?

Sandbags are a good call. You could even use those flat plastic ones you fill on site to save your back hauling concrete.

Saw a florist use sandbags hidden in burlap for windy outdoor arches. Your concrete block idea sounds solid though.
