I switched from using floral foam for all my arrangements to a chicken wire base about three years ago.

You say it's just a block of foam, but that stuff is soaked in nasty chemicals. It crumbles into microplastics that never go away. Chicken wire is a pain but at least it doesn't poison the water table.

Seems like a lot of fuss over flower foam. It holds stems, then you throw it out. Chicken wire works fine too, but it's not like you saved the planet.
