Wait, what if the riser itself is the problem? Like, a bad design means it can't feed properly no matter how long you wait. Seen that happen.

Cutting it open too early might not be as bad as you think (seriously, hear me out). In some cases, you can catch a big flaw and fix it before the whole thing sets. That little risk can save a bigger mess later.
