PSA: I abandoned the practice of benchmarking every gadget against its predecessors
The constant comparisons clouded my judgment, so now I assess each device on its current merits alone. This approach has surprisingly refined my review process, agree or disagree?

Ngl, I was totally in the camp of comparing everything to last year's model. I'd get hung up on whether a new tablet had a higher Geekbench score than its predecessor, even if my old one worked fine. But after buying a gadget that was technically superior but didn't fit my workflow, I realized the flaw in that thinking. Now I look at what problem it solves today, and it's saved me from so many pointless upgrades.

ABSOLUTELY agree with ditching the constant comparisons. I used to get so caught up in spec sheets versus last year's model that I missed what made new tech actually USEFUL. Now, I start every review by asking if this gadget solves a problem I have RIGHT NOW, not if it's 10% faster than its predecessor. That mindset shift eliminates so much noise and lets the device's true value shine through. Try creating a checklist of current needs before you even unbox something, it forces a merit-based assessment. Benchmarks can lie, but how a tool fits into your daily life? That's the REAL measure.
