Back to basics: Why my design process starts with a sketchpad now
I used to think good design only came from fancy software. Then I found my old college sketchbooks full of messy drawings. Those rough ideas often sparked better final pieces than starting on screen. Now I always begin with a pencil and paper to get inspired. It reminds me of when I first learned design, before everything went digital.

That "blank screen is intimidating" feeling is why my sketchpad is always open first.

Yeah, I'm convinced half of our software subscriptions just exist to make us feel like we're working. The blank screen is intimidating, but a messy sketchbook page has zero expectations. It's the one good habit I stole from art school.
