Switched to using a timer for every processing step
I used to just eyeball how long color or toner was processing. Now I set a timer for every client, no exceptions. It makes the results so much more even and predictable. I get way fewer complaints about brassy or over-processed hair.

Yeah the "way fewer complaints" part is so real. I started doing the same thing last year and it just takes all the guesswork out. My consistency got way better overnight.

Last spring, I tried the exact same method and got MORE complaints at first. It felt like adding more rules just made me overthink every little thing. For some people, guesswork is part of the process that lets them adjust on the fly. Overnight success stories are rare, and most real improvement takes a lot of slow, boring practice. I wish it was as easy as just changing one method, but that has not been my reality at all.

Sadly my consistency is still waiting for that to happen.
