That time a bear encounter on the Pacific Crest Trail clarified my priorities at work
Coming face-to-face with wildlife made me appreciate the simplicity of trail life over corporate ladder climbing.

Did you find that the bear encounter was more terrifying than clarifying in the moment? I've had similar wildlife scares (like surprising a moose in Colorado) that initially just spike your adrenaline, and the reflection comes later. Trail life has its own set of complex worries, from weather to route-finding, that can mirror workplace stresses in unexpected ways. It's the contrast between controlled environments and raw nature that really highlights priorities, I suppose.

Prioritize making yourself big and backing away slowly if you spot a bear, but idk, in that moment, terror totally overrides any clarity. Your heart just hammers and all you see is the animal, no deep thoughts. The reflection comes hours later, like realizing how simple trail problems are compared to office drama. I mean, it's wild how nature strips everything down to basics. Maybe it's just me, but that adrenaline dump makes you reevaluate what actually matters.

Heard a ranger say fear overrides all training with bears.
