Am I the only one who debates the merits of extended drying periods for hand-built sculptures versus rushing to bisque?

I'm working on a complex coil-built piece that needs thorough drying to prevent cracks, but my studio's shared kiln schedule pressures me to move faster. Some potters insist on weeks of slow drying for integrity, while others argue controlled environments can safely shorten the wait. This tension between patience and practicality has me rethinking my process. How do you navigate drying times when deadlines loom?

Seriously, how big of a risk are we talking with rushing it?

That "shared kiln schedule" pressure is real. I had a similar tension woodworking with green wood, rushing a tabletop before a client deadline. The whole thing warped like a potato chip, a brutal lesson in forced timelines.

Ever think about the kiln itself failing from the rush?
