Serious question, did the municipal hologram adverts change anyone's perspective on augmented reality futures?

I used to roll my eyes at sci-fi stories where characters lived in digitally overlapped worlds, thinking it was just flashy nonsense. But after a month of those shimmering ads appearing over our park's fountain, I've started to imagine how layered realities could actually feel mundane and integrated.

The fountain ads are so convincing, I half-expect a hologram seagull to try and steal my chips. Casey might be onto something with the surveillance angle, but at least the ads are prettier than billboards.

That "mundane and integrated" shift is just ads prepping us for corporate surveillance.

Seriously, I used to dismiss ads as just background noise, but calling it surveillance training really reframes it (and not in a good way). Now I can't unsee the creep factor in every targeted promo.
