Just back from a founder retreat in Bali, and I'm calling BS on the 'networking in paradise' narrative.

Those lavish trips are distractions, not catalysts for real business growth.

Compare the actual outcomes from those Bali trips to a regular coworking space meetup. Saw a founder last year who spent 10k on a retreat and came back with just Instagram photos, no deals. But maybe that's on them for treating it like a vacation instead of work. Hard to blame the location when the mindset is wrong.
