Serious question, our town's new composting tech just made a big mess. Is it still worth it?
Last week, the new automated composting system at our community center broke down. It spilled waste everywhere and smelled awful. Some say we should scrap it and go back to old methods, but others think it's a learning chance to fix the tech. What do you all think about pushing forward with green tech after a flop?

Feel for you, that sounds like a nasty situation to deal with. New tech fails sometimes, it's just how this stuff goes. Scrapping it over one big mess seems short-sighted when the old methods have their own problems. Got to expect some stinks and spills while we figure this out.

The automated manure spreader that failed at the Olsen farm last spring ruined 40 acres of alfalfa. It wasn't just a stink, it was a total loss of that cutting. Old methods might be slower, but a broken tractor doesn't poison your land. When new tech fails that hard, the cost isn't just a cleanup, it's someone's entire income for the season. Sometimes the old way is the reliable way.

Maybe it's just me, but a friend's new spreader botched the job last season, though they still use it now.
