My kitchen remodel revealed an unexpected protocol for sharing dumpster space

I was redoing my kitchen and rented a dumpster for the debris. Neighbors started asking to toss their own junk in it, which felt like a test of communal generosity. What's the proper etiquette for handling these requests without causing friction?

That "unexpected protocol for sharing dumpster space" is a liability minefield. If a neighbor gets hurt tossing their junk, you could be on the hook. Same if they dump something hazardous, like paint or chemicals. Your rental agreement almost certainly forbids third-party use. Politely cite the rental terms to avoid friction. It protects you and sets a clear boundary.

How often does that actually happen? Feels like fear mongering over minor risks.

The liability minefield @richardprice mentions reflects how our hyper-litigious society turns neighborly gestures into legal risks. It's a shame that fear of lawsuits often undermines simple community cooperation.
