My wine tasting notes accidentally became a comedy act

Tried to be all fancy and said a pinot noir smelled like 'grandma's attic after a storm.' My friends lost it, and now they make me do my 'haunted wine' bit every time. Y'all ever have your tasting notes turn into a stand-up routine?

Went to a wine shop where the employee kept saying "notes of tobacco" but it sounded like "notes of toboggan" every time. My friend whispered "so is this a sledding wine or a smoking wine" and we had to leave before we laughed in the poor guy's face. Sometimes the fancy descriptions just beg to be messed with. What's the best wine description you've heard that was totally ridiculous?

My wine shop guy once said a red tasted like a campfire, and he was right. I don't find those notes silly, @charles_burns, they help me pick what I like. Maybe your guy just messed up the words.

Did that employee actually know what tobacco notes taste like in wine... or were they just saying words they heard before. Some staff just repeat fancy terms without really getting it. Makes you wonder if they ever even tried the stuff.
