Almost lost a finger last week on a Samsung dryer drum screw
The 10mm hex head stripped out on me and my impact driver slipped right off, which is how I learned those screws are actually torx T20 underneath that thin coating, has anyone else run into this fake hex nonsense?

Man those hidden torx screws are a real pain. I've had the same thing happen with a washing machine panel where the hex head stripped and then you find out it's actually a torx underneath. Almost took a chunk out of my palm when that bit slipped. Hope your finger is doing okay now, that's a scary close call.

Hidden torx screws are actually the better design in my opinion. A real torx bit grabs way harder than a hex head ever will. The issue isn't the screw type, it's manufacturers using cheap soft metal that strips no matter what.
