Hit 30 years in the trade last Tuesday and it hit me harder than I expected

I was repairing a dishwasher in a condo downtown when I realized I've been doing this since 1994. Never thought I'd stick with one thing that long, especially something that pays by the broken machine. Has anyone else had a milestone sneak up on them like that?

Wait, did anyone else's dad have that one specific VHS tape they'd rewind over and over? I mean, that post reminded me of a time my older brother tried to record over our family vacation video with some random wrestling match. He accidentally left the camcorder running in his room, so the tape turned into this weird mix of my little sister's birthday party and someone getting body-slammed through a table. We didn't notice for like a year because nobody watched the tapes anyway. Idk, it just gives me that same gut feeling of finding something you weren't supposed to see. Maybe it's just me but that kind of messed up nostalgia hits different.

Oh man, I gotta say I think you're reading way too much into this. It's just a messed up VHS tape, not some deep dark family secret. Your brother was being a dumb kid trying to record wrestling, it's not like he accidentally caught your parents fighting or something. I get the weird feeling of finding old tapes, but come on, a birthday party and a body slam isn't exactly the stuff of nightmares. Sometimes a crummy tape is just a crummy tape, you know? No need to turn it into some big emotional thing.
