Pro tip: that $180 smart fridge board I replaced this week was never the problem

Spent 3 hours swapping a main control board on a Samsung fridge in a rental unit, only to find the real issue was a corroded connector behind the ice maker, so has anyone else chased a board when the actual fix was a $4 part and some contact cleaner?

Damn, three hours! I would have lost my mind. I mean, you probably had the whole thing torn apart, testing voltages, checking for continuity, all that stuff. And to find out it was just a nasty little connector that needed a squirt of cleaner, man, that would make me want to throw the whole fridge out the window. I swear, those Samsung boards are like $200 just for the part, so I get why you went down that path first. But it just goes to show you that the cheapest fix is always the one you check first, even if it seems too simple. I bet the landlord was happy you didn't charge them for the board, at least.
