Saw a 1970s fridge still running at a diner in Flagstaff

I stopped at a little diner on Route 66 and noticed their old Frigidaire humming along in the kitchen. The cook said it's been there since the place opened and has only needed a couple of new door seals. What's the oldest appliance you've seen still on the job?

My grandma had the same avocado green washer and dryer from like 1978 until a couple years ago. The repair guy said they just don't make the motors like that anymore, everything's plastic now. It finally gave out but it had a good run.

That's actually a common mix-up. Avocado green was mostly a late 60s to mid 70s thing. By 1978, harvest gold and almond were way more popular. Your grandma's set was probably older than she remembered, which makes its long life even more impressive. They really were built different back then.
