Showerthought: That week in July with the heat wave and the fridge calls was something else
I'm still tired just thinking about it. It was the second week of July, hit 103 degrees here in Tulsa for three days straight. My phone blew up with nothing but 'fridge not cooling' calls. Every single one was a clogged condenser coil packed with pet hair and dust. I must have cleaned fifteen of them in four days. The worst was an old Whirlpool side-by-side where the customer said it had been 'a little warm for a month.' Pulled it out and the coil was solid, like a gray blanket. Took me an hour just to vacuum it out. The heat just pushes these units over the edge when they can't breathe. Has anyone else seen a spike in one specific failure when the weather gets extreme like that?

That "gray blanket" coil is way too real. We get the same thing here in Phoenix every summer, but with cottonwood tree fluff. It just smothers the units. The worst is when you pull the fridge out and a whole cloud of dust comes at you.

You ever actually had a unit fail from that stuff, or is it just a cleaning hassle?
